William says,

You should make a library that allows you to make gameboards simultaneously for <canvas> tags and Shoes.

Eric says,

I think it'd always require a bit of porting to make the same game work both in a canvas tag and in Shoes. But, usually games share a significant amount of UI code, so I don't think it'd be too much trouble to support both. It'd take about 5 minutes to modify Breakthrough Shoes code to also play Checkers, for example.

Shoes has the nice advantage of being a very simple GUI toolkit that takes a lot of inspiration from the web. Shoes is a lot cleaner than html/javascript -- the benefit of hindsight and a single designer instead of a committee, I'm sure.

I expect I'll continue to play around with Shoes. (And, I'll have more to say about it later....)
